Chester

Chester is distinguished by two towns:  The borough and the township.  The borough is located at the junction of Route 206 and Route 24 and features a quaint, charming shopping village that welcomes visitors year-round.  It comprises one and one-half square miles and is a destination for many on the weekends.  Small, intimate boutiques, art galleries, antique shops, and charming restaurants can be explored to your heart's content!  Visit the Publick House Tavern on Main Street for a lovely lunch or dinner, Sally Lunns Tea Shoppe that serves the best homemade pies anywhere, Sweet Spot Bake Shop baking cupcakes from scratch the way mom did or the Black River Candy Shoppe loaded with antique barrels of candies you thought they never made anymore!  Simply Charming!  Visit the Willowwood Arboretum in the township to enjoy the flora and fauna.  And don't forget to take in a show at the Black River Playhouse, performing for over 50 years offering quality theater, and enriching the arts in the community!
Homes range from antique, gingerbread Victorians to quaint colonials and capes, all within a walk to the center of town.  A special place to love- a special place to live!  Come visit...you will want to stay!

The township comprises the surrounding 30 square miles of preserved deeded land under the Farmland Preservation Program, newer residential neighborhoods and many historical homes.
